At 4 am I had awakened suddenly, my eyes popped open business I had an icy chill of fear and anxiety gripping me, as if some tragedy had occurred in previous days, and my subconscious knew it but my mind was attempting to remember what it was. I ran a brief memory scan on myself … no, no one I knew within my family or circle of friends was sick, injured or had died, I was not on the verge of some imminent financial disaster, my career and business were both intact, I had not been the victim of any natural disaster. Why then had I awakened with such fear and cold dread gripping me?

Then I remembered. The night before, I had been on a conference and training call with my up-line sponsor and mentor in my Internet Marketing business, along with eleven other top earners on our team. partnership part of a 4 week, one session per week, intensive coaching and training session designed to accelerate our marketing efforts and profitability, we had all been “assigned homework tasks” to be completed by the next conference call one week later. On top of this, our mentor had added the element of competition by offering a $50.00 payout to the team members who got the best results from two of the five assigned tasks.

These were -
1.) Best conversion ratios for a new keyword capture page on Google AdWords/PPC and -
2.) The most viewed video on You Tube after making and publishing five new videos related to our business and Internet Marketing.

The gauntlet had been thrown down and the challenge given. Up until this point, I had not had any problems with implementing new marketing techniques I had learned from my mentor. Sure, there had been hurdles before, but I had always gotten past these, and as a result, I had started making lots of sales and profit for myself and was now considered one of the “top earners” on our team. I won’t say I got cocky, but my self esteem and confidence in myself as an Internet Marketer, my product, and my business had increased dramatically. Why was I now like a “deer in the headlights?” I felt frozen in my tracks and all my initial attempts at completing some of these “assigned tasks” proved in vain. Specifically, I could not write any of the three new articles we had been tasked to write, I could not even think of a good subject for a new article. This was not like me at all. I had always been able to put my thoughts down in words very well. I had some sort of mental block, what I will call ‘creative constipation’ at this point. Most of all, I feared the embarrassment I would surely suffer on the next week’s team conference call when, in my mind, everyone else on my team but me would certainly have successfully completed all these tasks and marketing implementations and would win the two $50.00 prizes in the competition.

A quick call and conversation with my mentor revealed not only the problem, but the cause of my ‘creative constipation’ and, as it turns out, the resolution. For several weeks and months prior to my current condition, I had been completely and totally immersed in and focused on my Internet business, i.e., sales, profitability, marketing, training, my down line, talking with new prospects, ad costs etc. I had become so emotionally attached to everything that I had forgotten some other very important aspects of my life … rest, relaxation, physical activity, anything to give myself a break and get my mind completely away from and tax my business, if only for a day or an afternoon.

I decided then and there that I would make a long overdue trip to my fitness club that very afternoon, which I did. Since this was my first real workout in almost a year, I decided not to overdo it. I performed about 20 minutes of cardio and different weight machines, took a 10 minute steam, then swam 6 laps in the pool. Wow! As I paused between each lap in the pool, I felt my mind opening up again and new thoughts and ideas began to flow like an untapped underground spring of water. I initially started thinking of what I would write my first new article about and what I would say, when the idea then popped into my head, “Why not write an article about the mental block you just experienced and how you resolved it? Certainly sharing that information with the world would be beneficial to other people who could also be ‘creatively constipated’ just as you were. “

So there you have it… in my hot and very focused pursuit of success, I had forgotten the importance of pushing back, taking some deep breaths, taking time off and completely detaching myself to allow my body and mind to clear its creative pipeline.

Our favorite part of turkey is the leftovers. We always cook too much on purpose because we love the recipes with the
leftovers. We are sure everyone has there favorites; we just hope that we can add some new ideas to your turkey leftovers possibilites.

You start with a perfectly cooked turkey. We think fresh partnership organic is the best, simply roasted with olive oil, salt and pepper
and stuffed with an onion to help with the gravy flavors. After the main meal, slice what you want for sandwiches; then
take the remainder and cover it with water and simmer on low a good while: until the meat falls off the bone. Separate the
meat and broth discarding the rest. Chill the meat and broth. After it chills, defat and you have the basis for all of the
ideas below.

My husband’s absolute favorite turkey leftover is turkey pot pie. Other ideas are turkey noodle soup, turkey rice soup,
turkey hash, turkey gumbo, turkey and dumplings, turkey divan, turkey pozole, turkey fricassee, turkey tetrazzini and turkey vegetable soup. What is turkey hash, you ask? It is one of the comfort foods from my childhood, served by my mother and my grandma. You take lots of the shredded turkey, with an equal amount of broth. partnership with a roux (several T butter, melted, add
flour and whisk until browned and add to the meat and broth, off heat tax to remove any lumps) or for a fat free
version, put 1/4 cup flour in a jar, add 3/4 cup hot water. Put lid on jar and shake well until well combined. Add to meat and
broth. Cook until thickened. Season with salt and pepper. My favorite way to serve is over toast. It’s like a soul warming
turkey and gravy to die for. You can also serve it over noodles, mashed potatoes or rice.

Did you know about a common breakfast in China called Congee (or jook). It is a porridge of broth and rice, cooked until the
rice pretty much falls apart. It is served with condiments (chopped scallions, meat, whatever) and dim sum. When in
Hong Kong, we found this to be the most comforting breakfast we have ever eaten. We had the Chinese breakfast every
morning even though we had a choice of American Style or Chinese. It just seems so right to me. So below, we are going
to give you our version of congee, made with turkey and turkey stock. You can try it for lunch or as an appetizer for dinner; however, we would highly recommend you try it for breakfast on a cold winter day. We think you will love it.

To make congee, use raw rice, not leftover rice. You should use about 1 cup rice to 3 quarts liquid. It should be the
consistency of a thin porridge. Bring liquid to a simmer. Add rice. Simmer 30 minutes, uncovered. Cover and simmer
several hours. This will serve 6-8 and can be frozen and reheated.

We’ll add more turkey recipes next time, if we get enough requests. If not, we’ll start with something new! Enjoy!

When times get hard tax it becomes difficult to maintain business levels and make money, the credit crunch and slow down in the economy is particularly unwelcome. So what can you do about it? You can work ’smarter’ rather than harder, streamline your business, seek out inefficiencies and rectify them.

ISO9001, the quality management standard, has always been a method to incorporate best practice within any organisation. It brings in measures of customer satisfaction, which are essential during hard times, these help businesses to improve their attractiveness to customers and help to target new ones. The very last thing that any business wants is to have goods returned or services to be carried out again free of charge.

Continual improvement is also highlighted, as is the reduction of errors and mistakes. The Standard, if properly implemented, brings any business improved efficiency and better control of the quality of products and services.

The added advantage of a good quality management system is that an external authority is certifying that the systems employed by the business are effective and meet the requirements set out by the international standards organisation.

These include:

Documentation Requirements

  • Quality Manual
  • Control of Documents
  • Control of Records

Management Responsibility

  • Customer Focus

  • Internal Communication
  • Management Review

If public officials herd beach patrons into shark infested waters, and start chumming, and then after the first shark bite the patrons start to scream and flail about trying to escape, thus causing more drownings than shark bite hemorrhages– we’d properly be more apt to label this stupid or criminal, than call it “a panic” on the part of the beach goers.

Our financial crisis has a lot in common with the above shark feed. Although the results from the credit collapse may seem insane, confusing, and scary– they’re really the normal expected result of government directed money and credit expansion.

Austrian Business Cycle Theory, which describes the reasons for the inevitable downside to artificial expansion, suggests that our benighted government’s thrashing around to try and thaw the “credit freeze” (and which seems like the real panic, if there is one), is only treatment of a symptom and can’t succeed.

This is not just about people not trusting each other– a credit freeze, or a “liquidity trap”, that makes stimulus ineffective. This is about a growing realization that there are not enough resources available to complete or use all the unfinished and/or uneconomic projects out there over a timeframe that would make them economic– a realization that projects and their owners must now fight for their lives. Now, because of the over invested position that credit expansion has put us in, and unlike a “normal” economy, this is a zero sum game– one project or company’s life may well mean another’s death.

In other words, the “fear” and “distrust” in the markets should probably instead be called logic. The Fed and the Treasury can do whatever they please, pump in or not pump in any amount of “liquidity”, buy or not buy any assets, whether trashy or public profit making, or both. Restoring trust or liquidity is not the key issue, and is at any rate impossible in this environment.

The credit collapse is about too much investment, and investment in the wrong things (as Austrian Business Cycle Theory calls it, “malinvestment”). Business has recognized the malinvestment (finally), and it can’t be unrecognized. The Fed and the Treasury are frantically trying to throw in more resources to fog investors up again, but as the expression goes, they can only throw good money after bad, to distribute and ultimately deepen and extend the pain.

To sum it up in short, brutish nastiness: there is no fix other than time, depreciation, and failures.

It’s not likely that President Bush will call a press conference to talk about economic policy, and say, “My fellow Americans, I’m announcing today that this is not an aberration; in view of what we’ve done, this is normal. Unfortunately, there’s too much rationality in the markets. Failures are an option.” If he did, then after a brief stunned pause while people decide if they’re frightened because they can’t believe the statement, or because they can, everyone would of course take the only logical course, and scream and run in circles.

Whatever happens (with or without fantasy honest press conferences), panic will get an irrationally large share of blame. In the too convenient world of ever unevolving politics, panic is an easy scapegoat. As in, “Obviously, if it wasn’t for that darn panic, the Feds would have had everything under control the whole time, so let’s just go back to the way things were.”

If that attitude gets as much traction as it’s starting to look like it might, then the subject of real monetary reform and real banking reform will slip off the table in a puff of snake oil (the way it always does). What a tragic missed opportunity to add to the tragedy list.

http://www.themaestrosrep.org The true story of how the term “free market” became history’s greatest oxymoron (and some of the morons who oxed it).

The definition of accounting is the study of how businesses track their income and expenses. Accounting practices are essential in a business for two major reasons:

- To determine whether or not a business is making a profit and how much profit is being made.

- To collect financial information for filing tax returns.

In order to understand accounting systems, knowledge of some basic accounting concepts is necessary. The accounting process is comprised of three parts, which include the journal, general ledger, and subsidiary ledgers. Each of these parts provide valuable information to a business owner.

Journal - Each individual transaction entry is entered and recorded in a journal. There are often several different types of taxes in a business. Each type of journal records a different type of transaction. tax example, a transaction may be classified as a sale, purchase, cash receipt, or cash disbursement. After these transactions are entered and organized in the journal, they are transferred to the general ledger.

General Ledger - After being transferred from the journals to the general ledger, the financial data is organized into three main categories: Assets, Liabilities, and Capital. The account balance is then calculated and a financial report is obtained.

Subsidiary Ledger - The subsidiary ledger provides more specific information that is not able to be provided in the General Ledger, such as the name and demographics of each customer and the customer’s balance. This information is obviously important for billing purposes.

Understanding of debits and credits is the foundation of understanding accounting systems. Because every business transaction affects at least two accounts, each transaction is recorded using a double-entry system of debits and credits. Debits are entered on the left side of the balance sheet. Credits are entered on the right side. Costs and Expenses are recorded as debits. Income is recorded as credits. Assets are recorded as debits. Liabilities are recorded as credit. Debits and credits must be equal for all entries.

The following is referred to as the General Accounting Equation:

Assets = Liabilities + Owner’s Equity

Assets are things of value that the company owns. Liabilities are what the company owes. Owner’s equity (or capital) is the net worth of a business and includes any debt owed to business owners.

For example, say I am buying a car for $10,000. If I borrow $5500 and have saved $4500, my assets are worth $10,000, my liabilities are $5500, and my equity is $4500. If we plug these numbers into the General Accounting Equation, we come up with $10,000 = $5500 + $4500. Note how the equation is balanced.

Home Based Business Grants

October 31st, 2008

There are a whole host of individuals and potential home based business owners who have been searching for grant money which, they hope, will provide them with the necessary means to start their home based business. Some companies will market to these consumers using terms like “free money” to entice them. With all of these companies making it seem so easy to get free grant money for your business, why would you not want to partake in the spoils?

When trying to find free money grants for your home-based business, your best bet is to proceed with caution. That is because technically, free money does exists, but you may need to read the fine print. Small business owners and entrepreneurs can actually get free grants from the millions of dollars of business available to them. The majority of these grants come from private institutions, the government and nongovernmental organizations. The amount of grant money paid out varies between $5,000 to six figures. And the most amazing thing about the grant money is no one requires you to pay it back.

However, the vast majority of institutions which fund these grants do not offer free money at all. Businesses such as the Bank of America Foundation or the Small Business Association will not provide capital for small businesses such as clothing design or day cares, etc. And they will not provide small business grants to anyone who wants to start a “for profit” company. Rather, these funding groups will generally utilize their grant funds to target specific organizations, activities or groups. For example, the SBA grants are usually provided to educational institutes or nonprofit organizations. The Bank of America Foundation will consider requests by nonprofits that are in a geographic area that they have strong business presence in. If they come across a business or nonprofit which falls in line with the objectives and goals of their organization, most funding institutions will provide what is called “project” funding.

There are also small amounts of grant funding institutions that will give individuals money directly. The drawback, though, is that you need to business the grant money in a way that remains partnership with the funding institutions objectives. And because these are project-based grants, a lot of organizations may require you to provide some of the funding on your own. As for using grants to fund your home-based business, they may only cover a small portion of what you actually need. Only on rare occasions will the cover the entire cost to start your business. For example, the Indian Grant Program provided by the Bureau of Indian Affairs offers individuals up to $100,000 to develop businesses on reservations that will impact the reservation positively. It also makes clear the fact that only 25% of all costs are covered. So, the individuals then need to provide the other 75% out of their own pockets.
